Training/Education Division
The Training/Education Division offers pro bono, sliding fee, and full fee training opportunities for lawyers, judges, psychologists, and law enforcement officers. Thus far, IBSL has provided continuing education seminars to judges on topics such as Competency to Stand Trial Evaluations, Stalking, and Mental HealthIssues in the Legal System. Attorney and psychologist seminars have included full-day and partial-day workshops on topics such as Effective Cross-Examination of Expert Witnesses, Child Witnesses Dilemmas and Solutions, Competency to Stand Trial Issues, Competency to Waive Miranda Evaluations, Mental Health Mitigation, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in Personal Injury Cases. Law enforcement training has primarily involved training police officers on how to properly question child witnesses.
