Forensic Services Division
The Forensic Services Division, directed by Dr. Michael P. Brannon, is dedicated to providing comprehensive, objective, and understandable forensic evaluations related to a wide range of psycho-legal issues. With their specialized training and expertise in the field of forensic psychology, Drs. Brannon and Bourg Carter have put together a team of highly trained forensic psychologists whose goal is to provide comprehensive psychological evaluations for lawyers and judges practicing in the criminal justice system. With such a team, almost any forensic issue that arises in a criminal case can be handled with the skill and objectivity that is critical to forensic evaluation services. For a list of our areas of expertise, please visit our Practice Areas page.
The Forensic Services Division also operates the IBSL Walk-in Assessment Center for criminal court referrals involving competency to stand trial, substance abuse evaluations, or downward departure evaluations. When a judge or attorney has a defendant who requires an emergency evaluation, the Walk-in Assessment Centeris equipped to handle the case that same day and provide either verbal feedback immediately following the assessment or a written summary report that can be provided to the attorney or the court on the same day. A full written report is prepared on each case within 48 hours of the assessment. Please click on the appropriate links at the right to learn more about the IBSL Walk-in Assessment Center.
IBSL also provides psychological evaluations for public safety personnel, such as law enforcement officers, fire fighters, emergency medical technicians, and civilian employees of law enforcement agencies. Referrals for pre-employment psychological evaluations as well as fitness for duty evaluations are accepted.
